A Message From Rabbi Ya'acov Farber"A Sign Of The Times"
When we read our daily newspaper, listen to the news on the radio or watch the evening news on television we wonder, “What is going on in the world?” There is tragedy after tragedy, natural disaster after natural disaster: storms, floods earthquakes and more, and they are happening with increasing frequency. In fact, it has become so bad that major charitable and non-prophet organizations, who are involved in helping victims of disaster, are fearful because of what they have termed as “donor weariness”. With all the catastrophes that have befallen the world these institutions are worried that donor’s pockets will be empty from all the giving. They are worried that the donor’s will be weary of well doing and, therefore, the disaster relief funds that these organizations need to accomplish their disaster relief work will dry up. Can you blame them for being concerned? As a donor I know that there is only so much that I can give. For me, it has come down to having to pick and choose who gets my financial support and who does not. Now, on top of all this we have a world wide financial crisis, which has been coined “the sub-prime mortgage crises.” Financial institutions are falling like dominos and there seems to be no end in sight. If I were a prophet (and I am not) I would say that the world is heading towards a complete financial and monetary collapse, and it does not look like there is anything anyone can do about it. In fact, the powers that be have turned to trying to find someone or some ones that they can unload the blame on before the blame reaches the top. |
Now add to all of this the prospect of the hostile nations that surround Yisrael obtaining nuclear weapons and we have the formula for global disaster. What are we to do? What are we to do? How are we to react to all of this as believers in Yeshua HaMashiach?
Uri (Luke) {21:25} And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; {21:26} Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. {12:27} And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. {12:28} And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draws near.
This is not the time for believers to get caught up in the politics of what is taking place. This is not a time for us to be looking for or listening to conspiracy theories. Most of all, this is certainly not a time for us to take our focus off of G-d and put it anywhere else. Whenever we put our trust in something other than G-d, even if it is in ourselves, we take our focus off of G-d and make whatever we have focused on an idol. Whatever we focus on is where our heart is. If our focus is on what this or what that nation is doing behind the scenes then we are not focusing on G-d. If our focus is on the Illuminati or the Trilateral Commission or on trying to figure out who the anti-Mashiach (Messiah) is then our focus is not on the L-rd. It is not that I doubt that these kinds of things are taking place behind the scenes in corporate boardrooms or in governments. On the contrary! I am sure that there are all kinds of conspiring going on. It is only that I believe the L-rd when He says:
Mishlei (Proverbs) {21:30} There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against HaShem.
Many believers are busy scurrying around trying to figure out what is going on. They are scouring web-sites desperately searching for bits and pieces of information so that they might be prepared for the coming onslaught. However, this is all at the expense of taking their focus off of G-d and placing it upon their man made idols of current events and theories.
This is the time for all believers in Yeshua HaMashiach to draw closer then they ever have to G-d. This is a time for us to be focusing on studying the Word and learning from it. This is a time for us to be memorizing the Word in the event that our Bibles are taken from us. Other than that, we have nothing else to worry about. G-d is our defence. He has promised to protect those who are His. He has promises to watch over us and keep us. All that He asks of us in return is:
Tehellim (Psalm) {115:10} O house of Aharon, trust in HaShem: He is their help and their shield. {115:11} You that fear HaShem, trust in HaShem: He is their help and their shield. {115:12} HaShem has been mindful of us: He will bless us; He will bless the house of Yisrael; He will bless the house of Aharon. {12:13} He will bless them that fear HaShem, both small and great. {115:14} HaShem shall increase you more and more, you and your children. {115:15} You are blessed of HaShem which made heaven and earth. {115:16} The heaven, even the heavens, are HaShem 's: but the earth has He given to the children of men. {115:17} The dead praise not HaShem, neither any that go down into silence. {115:18} But we will bless HaShem from this time forth and for evermore. Praise HaShem.
Absolutely nothing happens without the L-rd’s knowledge and without Him being in total control. We have noting to fear except fear itself. A believer in Yeshua HaMashiach knows that the L-rd is the one who is orchestrating everything that is taking place right now, right down to the smallest detail. Therefore, true believers in Yeshua HaMashiach are not fearful!
Devarim (Deuteronomy) {32:39} See now that I, even I, am He, and there is no god with Me: I kill, and I make alive; I wound, and I heal: neither is there any that can deliver out of My hand. {32:40} For I lift up My hand to heaven, and say, I live forever.
Do I need to say anything more? We either trust G-d or we don’t. We either believe G-d or we are idolaters.
