Counting of the Omer

With the rise in popularity of various cults within Messianic Judaism and increased interest in the Jewish Roots Movement and people being drawn in the false teachings of the Karaites; I thought it expedient to set the record straight on the counting of the Omer and the Feast of Shavuot. (This article is taken from an unknown source.) The clue to the counting of the Omer leading up to Shavuot may be found in the book of Yehoshua (Joshua).
