Cut it Off!

  • Devarim / Deut.  21:10-25:19
  • Yeshayahu / Isaiah 54:1-10
  • Mattityahu / Mathew 5.27-30

G-d has been speaking to me ever since parasha Ki Teitzei was assigned to me.  G-d has been showing me that not everyone is on the same book, let alone the same page.  Sometimes people need to be kicked out and unholiness needs to be sought out and destroyed.  There’s no way around it, somehow, no matter how much weed killer is applied through prayer, the weeds sneak their way into the garden and choke the other flowers.

Devarim / Deuteronomy 22:9 – “You shall not sow your vineyard with different kinds of seed, lest the yield of the seed which you have sown and the fruit of your vineyard be defiled.

If someone in the congregation is of a different seed than Yeshua, their unholy seeds mix with our holy seeds, and all of our fruit is defiled.  How can HaShem work with defiled ministries?  How can we, as a body, communicate with HaShem, if people among us are praying from defiled hearts, thereby rendering all prayers void?  If the enemy can tap into our communication with the commander and chief, we have a serious problem.  Without the head the whole body is weak, without proper communication with the head, the body is all we have. scary thought considering what goes on in the body today.

Efesim / Ephesians 5:9 (for the fruit of the Spirit* is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth), 10 finding out what is acceptable to HaShem. 11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them.

We must pray to expose those who are not of G-d.  There is no sense targeting someone across the valley when the enemy has you in the headlock.

Devarim / Deuteronomy 22:10 ”You shall not plow with an ox and a donkey together.

In Devarim verse 10 we get the same picture.Don’t be unequally yoked is the point of this verse.  The clean and the unclean are not going in the same direction.  The ox is clean and is stronger than the weaker unclean donkey.we would go around and around if we plowed with these two animals.  If we, being clean in Messiah Yeshua, prepare the way of the L-rd with unclean people amongst us, what kind of path would it be?  Certainly not straight and narrow!

In Devarim 23 we get more examples of those who should be excluded from the organized body or assembly of the L-rd.

Devarim / Deuteronomy 23:2 – “One of illegitimate birth shall not enter the assembly of HaShem; even to the tenth generation none of his descendants shall enter the assembly of HaShem forever.

In the same way we should exclude those not born legitimately of the Ruach Hakodesh.

Kefa Aleph / 1 Peter 1:22 Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit  in sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart, 23 having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of G-d which lives and abides forever,

Some commentators said that the exclusion of those of illegitimate birth was given to place a stigma on sexual misconduct and to discourage it.  We should also be placing stigmas on those who are not of born of Hashem.  We should all be the ones kicking them out of the congregation after the leadership has decided they must go.  Just as Israel was told to come together and “stone people out of the camp,” we should do likewise.  Obviously I’m not saying we should start stoning people, but I am saying that we should all join in and praise the L-rd that we are better off as a whole because of the enemies’ exclusion.

In Devarim verse 3 The Ammonite or Moabite are excluded from the organized body of HaShem forever.  So why exclude the Ammonite and Moabite forever?  Surely G-d is more kind than that, I mean, to exclude them forever doesn’t make sense.  I believe Ammonites and Moabites are people that are of different seeds than Yeshua.  HaShem gives us the reason in verse 4; “because they did not meet you with bread and water on the road when you came out of Mitzraim, and because they hired.Bil’am.to curse you.”    G-d is saying people of different seeds must be found and kicked out of His congregation.  What’s interesting is that the Ammonites are closely related to the Hebrews in blood and language.  Could HaShem be trying to tell us something here?  Is it possible that they could be amongst you and appear to be on the same page, when they are actually on the same page number in a different book?!  So how do you tell them apart?  Notice that they didn’t bring bread and water to HaShem’s children and are thus excluded.  They are the seeds that don’t bring the bread from heaven into the assembly of the L-rd, they don’t bring the Mayim Chaim (Living Water) for everyone else.  Instead they meet you with every thing else under the sun, to stop you from leaving Egypt, to stop you escaping your life of slavery to sin in Egypt. They didn’t, and they don’t, offer anything “edifying for the body.”

Devarim / Deuteronomy 23:9 “When the army goes out against your enemies, then keep yourself from every wicked thing. 10 If there is any man among you who becomes unclean by some occurrence in the night, then he shall go outside the camp; he shall not come inside the camp.14 For HaShem your God walks in the midst of your camp, to deliver you and give your enemies over to you; therefore your camp shall be holy, that He may see no unclean thing among you, and turn away from you.

Let’s focus on the words “By some occurrence in the night”.what could happen in the night as opposed to day to make someone unclean?  Some of my guesses as to what this “occurrence” might be were tripping over a grave or a carcass.  The person who does this had to leave the camp so that the L-rd can still walk amongst the rest of the camp and fight for them.  HaShem wouldn’t walk amongst them because of uncleanness.  If that’s the case, would HaShem walk amongst us if members of another army are members of our camp?!  How would a general today recognize his soldiers if there was more than one uniform?!  How does HaShem recognize us if we’re clothed in something other than righteousness?

Lastly, as the bar goes up, so does the cut off mark.

Mattityahu / Matthew 5:30 And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.
