In Jewish life, there are two important elements: the home and the synagogue. Unlike Western society that places the Church or Mosque at the center of the believers life, the Torah teaches that the home and synagogue are to be co-equal. The continuity of the Jewish faith depends upon the home more than anything else. The Sages taught that if there are no lambs, there can be no rams.
