The Rapture: Human Theology

Many, if not most Christians and Messianic Believers, have put their hope in the rapture of the church prior to God’s coming judgment on earth. Certainly there’s very good scriptural evidence of this in the Bible:

1 Corinthians 15:52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

1 Thesselonians 4:16-17 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord.

Even though the word rapture does not appear anywhere in Scripture, these two passages strongly speak about a miraculous calling away or removal of Believers from the earth. However, neither passage gives an exact time as to when this will happen. There has been so much discussion and so many theories on this subject but no final conclusion. Will it be before the tribulation period, also known as Jacob’s Trouble; will it be during the tribulation period, or will this event occur after the tribulation is over. The truth is no one knows for sure. It’s all pure speculation.

In the Bible verse Ellen shared this morning Zephaniah 2:3 we’re told.

Zeph. 2:3 Seek the Lord, all you meek of the earth, who have upheld His justice. Seek righteousness, seek humility. It may be that you will be hidden in the day of the Lord’s anger.

There is another verse of interest which tells us:

Psalm 27:5 For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion; In the secret place of His tabernacle He shall hide me; He shall set me high upon a rock.

These verses speak about God hiding those that are His in the day of His anger in the time of His trouble. There is no mention of anyone being removed from the earth in these verses prior, during or after His anger and trouble is poured out.

Misshpocha, let us not put our trust in human theology or human interpretation. We are definitely approaching the end of the end times. Live a life of righteousness and total devotion to the Lord and one way or another, He will protect you from the oncoming onslaught of disaster that is about to befall the earth, as God’s judgment is being poured out.
